    Social responsibility

Because cannabis is no ordinary product, we are committed to selling it responsibly and with health protection in mind. This commitment can be seen in our offer of quality products, responsible support of customers, irreproachable sales ethic and focus on public health.

    Quality

The quality and traceability of the products we sell are strictly controlled. This ensures they are safer than products available on the black market, minimizing the risks to users’ health. Here are several aspects of our commitment to quality:

    • products that meet all standards established by Health Canada
    • absence of contaminants and of pesticides and other chemicals and additives not approved by Health Canada
    • strict safety and security requirements imposed on cannabis producers
    • products grown only in Canada, with priority given to Québec products
    • labels that list the product’s origin and composition
    • safe, childproof containers
    • safe and secure sales outlets.

    Support

All our employees are trained to support customers in using cannabis responsibly. Whether it is the various products and strains, their effects or how to use them, our advisors can guide customers in selecting suitable products that maximize responsible behaviour and minimize the risks to users’ health. This is done by providing:

    • informative literature about the products, strains, effects and precautions at the time of purchase and to all customers who desire it
    • advice on the methods of use
    • recommendations and warnings about potential health risks.

Our website also provides all the information necessary to better understand cannabis and the related risks.

    Sales ethic

Our sales ethic is to refuse to sell cannabis to people under 21, to people obviously under the influence of drugs or alcohol and to any adult who attempts to buy cannabis on their behalf.

Here are the measures we have put in place to maintain an irreproachable sales ethic, both in stores and online:

    • No advertising or promotion aimed at encouraging cannabis use is allowed.
    • The maximum amount of cannabis that the SQDC is authorized to sell in a given transaction is 30 grams, whether in stores or online.

    In stores:

    • Our advisors are trained to comply with the sales ethic and all related procedures.
    • We require proof of age from all customers. The proof of age can be required before entering a store and/or at checkout.
    • Material explaining the sales ethic is displayed where customers can see it.
    • All products are securely stored, and access is limited to store staff.
    • Customers do not have access to the products they are buying until the sales transaction is completed.

    Online sales and deliveries:

    • Deliveries are secure and governed by procedures that include checking the recipient’s identity and age. A signature is also required before the parcel will be handed over.
    • Parcels may not be left unattended at the door.
    • An age check is performed before granting visitors access to the content of the website and to online purchases.
    • We are committed to protecting customers’ personal information.

    Public health

We are aware of the impact that using cannabis can have on Québécois’ health. That is why our approach is based on raising awareness and providing product information instead of promoting cannabis use. To help users to better understand the products and their effects and to make informed choices, we provide simple, straightforward literature about them. In addition, we direct our customers to the appropriate assistance resources when necessary.

Our measures to support our public health approach:

    • opening stores in a manner that respects the communities concerned
    • locating stores away from vulnerable populations
    • investing profits in a cannabis prevention and research fund.
